Cytora among first companies worldwide to attain AI governance certification ISO 42001

London, UK; 29 July 2025: Cytora, the leading digital risk processing platform, has achieved ISO/IEC 42001 certification, placing the firm among a small number of global technology companies certified to robust international standards for AI governance.

Achieving ISO/IEC 42001 certification reflects Cytora’s long-standing commitment to responsible AI as it continues to align its processes with industry standards. This builds upon the ISO 27001 certification already achieved by Cytora.

ISO/IEC 42001, the world’s first international standard for Artificial Intelligence Governance, sets out requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an AI management system. The standard is widely recognized as a critical framework for organisations deploying AI at scale in responsible AI development and operation and Cytora is one of the first insurtech companies to be granted certification.

AI is foundational to Cytora’s platform, which uses advanced language models to digitize risk submissions, enabling commercial insurers to accelerate intake and digitize workflows across all transaction types from new business to claims Certification demonstrates to insurers that Cytora is proactively governing its AI systems with the highest levels of rigour, embedding formal risk reviews, human-in-the-loop controls, and comprehensive impact assessments across its product lifecycle.

Cytora’s implementation of AI governance ensures that AI outputs are used to support—not replace—critical underwriting decisions. The company does not use AI for core decisions such as pricing or risk selection. Instead, AI is used to streamline intake, enrich submissions and enhance efficiency, all underpinned by auditable frameworks and explainability features.

The announcement comes amid continued momentum and developments for Cytora, which last month released its agentic AI powered service, Concierge, that automatically categorizes and digitizes an insurer’s entire intake across every transaction type. Recent partnerships have included major insurers including Chubb, Arch and Everest, and transaction volume processed by the Cytora platform increased sevenfold in 2024.

João Domingues, Security Director at Cytora, said “As AI technology becomes more deeply embedded in our world, it is crucial that innovation is handled responsibly to protect the integrity of the insurance industry and the people it serves. We are therefore proud to be one of the first insurance technology providers to receive ISO/IEC 42001. It reflects our culture and deep commitment to developing transformative technology for the insurance industry in an ethical and accountable way—now and in the future.”
